Firstly, we would like to extend a big thank you to the organizers of the Spring Book Show. They really came through after a severe storm ripped through the Georgia Conference Center just a week before the show. They did a great job of pulling a new venue together at the last minute. Marc Fournet from FillZ attended the Book Show and was very impressed with the large turnout. Great job to all!

Market News: AbeBooks: Web-store provider acquired: On April 9, 2008, AbeBooks announced the acquisition of the online bookstore provider, Chrislands. [read more] New pricing structure: Starting April 28, 2008, AbeBooks will implement a new fee structure affecting subscription, commission and payment service fees. [read more] AbeBooks.it: The sixth regional site to be offered by AbeBooks officially launched on April 14th. The site will offer more than one million Italian-language books from 98 booksellers based in Italy, in addition to the over 100 million titles that are offered on all other Abe sites. [read more] Amazon: Kindle Revolution: Publishers are reporting a double-digit increase in e-book sales since Kindle was released four months ago.[read more] Changes to Return Policy: As of April 14, 2008, Amazon's .ca Marketplace orders are subject to a new return policy. [read more]  Testing of Seller Feedback resumes: Amazon began testing a new "Leave seller feedback" page. Some changes include how buyers are directed to the page and how feedback appears on the page. [read more] Opening new fulfillment center: Amazon will be filling more than 1200 permanent positions at its second Indiana fulfillment center later this summer. Amazon also reported that they are seeking 500 employees for three Kentucky centers as sales on Amazon continue to soar. [read more] Launches m-commerce application: Amazon launched a new mobile application, TextBuyIt. Buyers with existing Amazon accounts can purchase Amazon items via text message. This latest innovation in m-commerce allows customers to access Amazon listings without being connected to the internet. [read more] ECS explained: If you're an avid Amazon Forum participant then you have probably come across the terms ECS, ECS 3.0, ECS 4.0, AWS and API and have probably wondered more than once what all of these acronyms mean. We thought we would take a moment to explain some of these terms and what they mean for you. Barnes & Noble: Now accepting new seller applications: B&N is now accepting and processing new applications for booksellers. If you're interested in selling on B&N directly, contact us for more information. eBay: New fee-based option for global exposure: North American sellers can pay additional fees to feature their listings on eBay.co.uk. eBay UK and eBay Ireland sellers can pay to feature their listings on North American platforms.  [read more] Live Auctions ending: At the end of this year, eBay will be retiring the Live Auctions feature to focus on other areas of online auctions.  [read more] Issues Return Policy for UK platform: Sellers listing on the eBay UK platform will be required to accept returns on fixed price items within 14 days of receipt, beginning May 1, 2008. [read more] Endicia: Postal changes: Endicia is holding free webinars to assist users with the upcoming postal changes in May. To view the schedule and register for a date, click here. USPS: New mailing standards next year: Starting March 29, 2009, flat mail will have to conform to new addressing placement and formatting requirements to help reduce sorting time at postal outlets. Out-of-state internet sellers required to collect state taxes. On April 15, David Paterson, Governor of New York, passed a provision requiring out-of-state merchants to begin collecting state and local taxes in a move expected to generate around $50 million for the state budget.
